Like Margie Harrison, Hugh Hefner purchased a set of photos of a model known as Margaret Scott from the John Baumgarth Calendar Company. These were displayed in Playboy‘s third edition as the February 1954 Playmate of the Month.
Unknown to him, and anyone else who worked at Playboy, he purchased pictures of the same model again for both the April 1954 and April 1955 issues. This model was Marilyn Waltz, a young aspiring actress and singer. This coincidence was not noted until The Playboy Book was being put together in 1996. It was noted in the book of the stunning resemblance between the two models. Eventually Marilyn herself wrote to Playboy letting them know that she was also Margaret Scott, officially making her the first model to be Playmate three times.
As Margaret Scott she was one of Playboy‘s most popular models. Reprints of her sets happened periodically through the 60’s and even in 2011! It is somewhat hard to believe that it took 40 years to realize that she was the same model.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Marilyn is said to have had a number of parts in commercials. I have not been able to find any of these commercials though so if you know of any, please comment below. She has also been described as “a popular pin-up model,” but other then the Playboy pictorials I have not really been able to identify any more photos of her under either name.
