Playboy POM for August 1956 was Jonnie Nicely. She was a nice girl with a hard life. Born in Fort Smith Arkansas, on February 25th, 1936, her mother died when she was only two years old. Her father died only four years later. She was raised by an older sister who enrolled her into a Convent School in Oklahoma City. At the age of 16 she made her way to Los Angeles where she was “discovered” by a photographer.
At the age of 20, she shot her first Playboy shoot. It was her third modeling gig ever.
She returned a few months later as 1956’s Miss August. After a few more modeling gigs, she ended up working a succession of jobs. These included Carhop, Restaurant Hostess, Seamstress, and as a model in a “traveling girlie show” where she wore a flesh colored body suit and turned down a job as a stripper.
Her career was finished off as an electrical installation mechanic for Rockwell International where she installed electronics on B-1 bombers. She also attended many “GlamourCons” with other former Playboy Models. Jonnie Nicely was married three times. She died on February 6, 2013 in Los Angeles.
See her official Playboy Page on Playboy Plus. More information about her can be found on Girls of Summer.
