Margaret Nolan
The gorgeous, and extremely talented, Vicki Kennedy was born Margaret Nolan in 1944. Her Irish parents raised her in Hampstead London where she became a model under the name of Vicki Kennedy. She soon met photographer George Harrison Marks through Roger Davis and did a number of shoots for his famous “Kamera” magazine. By this time Kamera was known among models as a way to launch a career in acting – and it did!
She got a role in the 60s Spy Series, “The Saint” this in turn led to The Beatles Movie “A Hard Day’s Night.” In her own words, it was her role as Bond Girl “Dink” in Goldfinger that rocketed her career. She says “An offer of a two year contract to publicize the film followed but I turned this down on the grounds that I would find it difficult to ‘live down’ such publicity as I wanted to be taken seriously as an actress. As it transpired I couldn’t ‘live it down’ anyway and to this day get regular fan-mail from Bond fans!”
As her film career took off, she started using her real name again. She went on to star in six of the “Carry On” movies, multiple TV shows, and even did quite a bit of theater until she left acting in 1983 to take care of her children. In 1991 she moved to a farm house in the Alpujarras in the Southern Spain region of Andalucia where she practiced permaculture until moving back to Hampstead London.
In 2006, she took up a new career, this time as a visual artist. She combined black and white photos of her self from the 60s into photomontages that have been displayed in several galleries around London. She still attends conventions to meet fans and continues to work as an artist.
